3 Ways To Get Your Routine Back

Summer is one of the hardest times to stay in shape.
The reason for this is because there is always so much going on, and alot more distractions.
Things like:
BBQs
Kid activities
Weddings
Vacations
Boating
Golfing
Hiking
Sun bathing
Like many, we go into the summer with plans to keep working out, and not lose all the hard work we put in during the months leading up to it. But sometimes we just fall off track (I know I have).
So how do we do it?
How do we get back on track? How do we get back on track with our health, after taking days/weeks/months off?
Well first, we need to stop beating ourselves up.
Yes, you took some time off. Yes, you enjoyed a little bit to much potato salad. Yes, you had a few to many beers or wine.
But thats ok. Lets admit that we did it and move on.  We are focusing on what we can DO NOW, not what we’ve done in the past….
So here is to new BEGINNINGS!
So lets get right to it!
Step 1. Focus only on today, and today only
When starting something, we often times start to think about all the things we have to get done…
Instead take a step back.
And focus only on what you have to do TODAY.
Dont worry about how your going to make the time work next Wednesday. Dont worry about if you will be able to do cardio for a full hour tomorrow.
Tomorrow, focus on today.
Step 2. Go slow to go fast
“I’m going to workout 6x a week.”
“I’m going to throw out all the junk in the fridge and pantry.”
Obviously this all sounds extreme, but its all to common.
Will power only goes so far. And your habits always win.
Start with 1 habit. And then start stacking.
Maybe its to drink more water. Maybe its to hit the gym 2-3x a week. Maybe its to not have the beer every night.
Imagine if you performed 1 new habit a week…..
Do that every week, and you’d have 52 new habits a year.
Think about all the changes that would come with all that….
But to do it, you have to start slow, to move fast… Just like a snowball!
Step 3. Have something or someone hold you accountable
Personally, I’m much better at doing what I set out to do, and work harder when someone holds me accountable.
Some of the people I’m held accountable to are:
– Social groups
– Fitness coach
– Mentors
– Friends
– Others on the same track as me
The people that hold you accountable will be by your side every step of the way, even if that means sending you a call or a text if they haven’t seen you in a few days.
Who could be the best accountability for you?
Well I am a bit biased, but the best coaches are those who have your best interested in mind.
To me, thats a personal coach, like we are at Grit City. Someone who is going to care about you and your goals.
We even will call and text if we havent seen you in a few days, or you missed the session you say you were going to be at.
