Picture this, and tell me if you can relate. You finally decide that you are going to 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕 to a new workout and nutrition plan… but less than 24 hours later you get a text inviting you to happy hour with all your coworkers, or your friend invites you out to dinner, or maybe the office decides to celebrate a recent achievement with donuts 🍩cookies 🍪and pizza 🍕
So, you re-evaluate your diet and workout plan that you just committed to, and decide to wait until you don’t have events/things going on so that you can start at “the right time” when you are fully committed.
But here’s the problem, if I’m being brutally honest with you…
The honest truth is that there is ALWAYS temptation around, and always will be (unless you are a hermit – but even then, there is Uber Eats LOL). Food, desserts, and treats, are always around us and in abundance.
You can drive through anytime anywhere and get any food or treat you want, or even get it delivered to your door from the comfort of your own couch!
OK SO WHAT IS MY POINT!? What’s the solution!? I’m getting there, I promise!
When you commit to making a change, joining a program, changing your health / fitness/ eating habits… we humans tend to automatically go into a 𝑹𝑬𝑺𝑻𝑹𝑰𝑪𝑻𝑰𝑽𝑬, scarcity mindset. We think we have to cut out everything we enjoy moving forward, that our friends and coworkers and all the food around us is going to sabotage us…so we get scared because we believe we don’t have what it takes and we will fail, because of the temptation around us.
You’re either All IN or all OUT, right!?
Most people jump ship and quit right early on, because they give into temptation, and convince themselves they will restart when they aren’t so busy, or after _ event, or after holiday, etc!
Have YOU been waiting to start until there is no more temptation? Be honest!
What if I told you that the people who succeed are the people that KNOW temptation will come and they are prepared for it. They have a plan on how to deal with it! 🤯
What if I told you that the people who succeed DON’T focus on a completely restrictive diet like cutting out entire food groups, giving up all sweets and favorite foods and promising to never eat out again!?
What if I told you that the people who succeed long term learn how to live and SUSTAIN a healthy lifestyle by enjoying their favorite foods, restaurants and events in MODERATION?
It’s amazing what we can do with a simple shift in our perspective and mindset! Just like with A LOT of other things in life, health and fitness isn’t black and white! There’s a grey area, and YOU can shape it to what works for YOU!
Of course there will be some sacrifice needed in order to live a healthier lifestyle, especially when your goal is weight loss – but you should ALWAYS be able to enjoy the foods and events you enjoy, in moderation, so that you can achieve BALANCE!
🔑 Be AWARE. Have a PLAN. MOVE your body. Enjoy everything in moderation! 😉
Don’t let another day pass you by while you make excuses about why you fell off, why you stopped, or why you have to wait to start until __ temptation passes by!
Take control and take ACTION now! Get moving, eat more whole foods, and if you want the 🍩🍪🍕, eat it! (In MODERATION)!!!!!
If you have questions about ANY of this, how to get started (or RE start), don’t hesitate to shoot me an email!
