DO.THE.WORK. – How To Set 4 Week Goals

While the title is Monday Motivation, I wanted to wait to send this until Tuesday because I wanted to make sure you got it and it was not hidden by all your other emails!
So back to the question……
Are you putting in work???
Gary Vaynerchuk, the author of “Crush it” and “The Thank You Economy,” posted an excellent article written for real estate agents the other day.
It was titled “What is wrong with people? It takes WORK!”

The reason I am sharing this with you is that there is ONE HUGE lesson in the article.
The article focuses around Gary saying that he posted up a technique to generate more business for local real estate agents, following that he had a few people on twitter respond with that they tried it, and it didn’t work.
Well after probing a bit they unveiled that the ones that said the technique didn’t work ONLY TRIED ABOUT 10 TIMES!
They tried it 10x’s and said the technique is flawed?
Gary follows it up by saying he has used the technique thousands of times and it WORKS.
My question to you is: Are you the person who is quick to say something does not work after only a few attempts?
Or do you try it a few hundred or thousand times before saying whether it works or not?
This is an important question to ask yourself because if your someone who gives it only a few attempts before saying something does not work means, you are not putting in the time needed to TRULY TEST AND SEE whether or not it does work.
This applies to everything you try:
Your nutrition
Workouts
Jobs
Friends
Relationships
Business
Or anything else you can think of….
YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK before you can explicitly say whether or not it works.
To do the work you have to do it more than a handful of times!

Setting Highly Detailed 4 Week Goals

One of the most successful fat loss tactics I have found is very specific realistic short window goals.
There are 3 phases to specific short window goals:
1st. SPECIFIC – This means specific goals. This anything from Losing 7 pounds in 4 weeks, Getting 20 more minutes of exercise a day 5x a week or anything else you can think of that align with what your desired goals are.
2nd. REALISTIC – Realistic is there to ensure that your goal is not something crazy like lose 100 pounds in 4 weeks, make a million dollars in 4 weeks but things that are realistic and attainable in 4 weeks. If you have seen it done then set that as a goal!
3rd. SHORT WINDOW – A short window is as you’ve seen above four week blocks. By going with short window goals you no longer are looking months and years away. You are also able to change your goals every four weeks if they have been achieved or no longer fit what you desire.
Take 5 minutes and take all the goals you have. If they are larger goals, hopefully they already have time frames on them…. IF NOT THATS YOUR FIRST STEP! From there find out how far out those goals are….. Let’s say your goal is to lose 40 pounds by January 1. That means that you need to lose 40 pounds in 17 weeks.  If you take the 40 pounds and divide it by the 17 weeks, you will have your new short window goal of 2.3 pounds per week or 9.4 pounds in the next four weeks.
Do you think that is possible?
